The painter has devoted herself to the physical human existence without any convention. Melanka Herbut absolutely says „yes“ to human life with all its positive and less positive facets. Here, too, she is against concealing, she loves naturalness, has a close look at how to get the viewer actually to have a close look once again by her exciting interweavings of pictures. Not always on first, but on second or third sight you can discover elegance and grace there, but also the spontaneous funny side of the moment. And this is exactly her intention! The cycle of scenes called „body creations“ combines living photography and painting in the most effective way. Here, the chessboard has become the field of life where everybody can give himself the part he has always been dreaming of which is demonstrated by the squares still left open, allowing the background to shine through. But then, more and more the regulations of daily routine, the things that can be done individually, are dominating the scene. The board mainly kept in black and white determines the framework, shows all possible ways and sets limits.
„This almost faddish painting-photographic stage of Melanka Herbut is the finals of her artistic exploration that was layered, retrospectively objective, equally and fairly introspective, which qualifications altogether contribute to the inspirational quality of her creative quest, by their simultaneous seriousness and playfulness...“
